Elder's Advisory Council
The primary purpose and function of the Bug O Nay Ge Shig LIEC/PSAC is to serve the students, parents, grandparents and guardians of the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School. As stated in the LIEC/PSAC By-laws, another important function of the LIEC/PSAC is to oversee the operation of Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School and to provide the parents/grandparents/guardians input into the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the schools programs. The LIEC/PSAC will serve in advisory capacity to the Leech Lake Reservation Tribal Council.
The LIEC/PSAC conducts an annual needs assessment. This assessment is distributed during Family Fun Night in December and at the all school picnic at the end of the school year. This needs assessment provides parents/grandparents/guardians with the opportunity to voice their concerns and to provide input to the LIEC/PSAC about the issues that need to be addressed in order to provide students with the best education, and to be aware of and overcome any of the obstacles that interfere with each students individual education process.
The LIEC/PSAC is available to hear parent/grandparent/guardian concerns, throughout the school year as well. We would like to provide your voice with a place to be heard, and will see that your issues and concerns are considered and will do our best to help find ways to resolve them.
JOM pays for $12 picture pkg. Parents will have to pay for any additional
pictures beyond the basic package.
The BIA funds our school based on AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE! We award a $50. Wal-Mart gift card for students with only (1) excused absence per quarter.
- $20. Wal-Mart gift card for (A) honor roll achievement.
- $10. Wal-Mart gift card for achieving (B) honor roll per qtr.
Graduation Pictures/Class Rings
Reimbursement also is available for graduation pictures or rings. Parents of JOM eligible students may submit their receipts (and W-9 form) to the LIEC/PAC for reimbursement not to exceed $200. When you submit the receipt make sure the students name and graduation date are written on it. Students who definitely will be graduating are reimbursed after verification is obtained from the students advisor.
Other Cost Assistance
Other parental cost assistance will be considered. Requests must be submitted in writing and approved at a LIEC/PAC regular scheduled meeting.
The funding for the Bug O Nay Ge Shig School J.O.M. are monies that are budgeted by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Council and comes from Self-governance funds. The LLBO Education director has delegated a Coordinator who is assigned the task of overseeing all the Leech Lake funded JOM parent committees. The coordinator has communicated to each project how the processing of checks and purchase orders is a huge and timely task. Please, be patient and take this into consideration when waiting for a check or P.O.
